The actor from The Matrix, affectionately known as the “Internet’s Boyfriend,” is currently in a relationship with Alexandra Grant, a talented visual artist renowned for her exploration of text and language across different artistic mediums.
Grant’s work has garnered acclaim and has been featured in various publications ranging from the Los Angeles Times to Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art.
Although she claims Los Angeles as her hometown, Grant was actually born in Ohio. She is highly respected for her collaborations, having partnered with esteemed literary figures and philosophers. One of her notable early collaborations was with Reeves, a longtime friend at the time.
Their relationship with Reeves, which dates back to at least 2011, gained worldwide attention with the publication of their book, Ode to Happiness.
Nearly a decade later, Reeves and Grant transitioned from a platonic to a romantic relationship, making their public debut as a couple in 2019. According to a source, they now reside together in Los Angeles.
An insider revealed, “Everyone adores her, and Keanu couldn’t be happier.”
From Grant’s artistic background to her views on marriage, here’s everything you need to know about the artist and her relationship with Reeves.
Who is Alexandra Grant?
Alexandra Grant is a Los Angeles-based artist who has cultivated an impressive collection of works over the years, primarily focusing on painting. She has also ventured into other creative pursuits and is notable for her collaborations with figures like feminist Hélène Cixous and digital literature pioneer Michael Joyce. Several of Grant’s collections have graced prestigious galleries, such as the Orange County Museum of Art in Santa Ana and the Marfa Invitational in Texas.
In a September 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Grant disclosed that her art had undergone significant changes since falling in love with Reeves. She recounted a studio visit a few years back where a respected individual remarked on the noticeable shift in her work towards a more joyful tone. Grant attributed this evolution to her personal experiences, stating that she and her art had become happier. She went on to credit the actor, known for his role in “John Wick,” as her source of inspiration.
Grant’s multilingualism stems from her diverse educational background, where she acquired fluency in English, Spanish, and French. Throughout her childhood, she attended various schools that exposed her to different cultures. She spent time at a British school in Mexico City, a boarding school in Missouri, and the International School of Paris in Europe.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Grant shared with LA Weekly in 2019, “I partially grew up in Mexico City, Washington, D.C., and Paris, transitioning between languages and cultures.” Upon arriving in Los Angeles in 1995, she instantly felt at home, particularly drawn to the city’s rich diversity in people, expressions, cuisines, and natural beauty, including iconic plants like jacarandas and bougainvillaeas.
Grant and Reeves, long-time friends, teamed up professionally in 2011 to publish “Ode to Happiness”, a mature picture book featuring illustrations by Grant and text by Reeves. This collaboration marked Grant’s debut as an artist-book creator and Reeves’ first venture into writing.
In 2016, they combined their talents once more for another project titled “Shadows”. This art book showcases a series of 54 images captured by Grant, inspired by Reeves’ movements.
During an L.A. gallery event covered by the Los Angeles Times, Grant commented on Reeves’ unique performing abilities, saying, “No one can move the way he can. He’s a really extreme performer.”
