Directed by Bob Clark, the narrative surrounds a real-life evaluation of the Whitechapel murders which was perpetrated by none other than Jack the Ripper. Murder by Decree utilized Doyle’s characters, but the narrative is loosely based on ‘The Ripper File’ from Elwyn Jones and John Lloyd. The assumption is based on Stephen Knight’s book Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution. The film stars Christopher Plummer as Sherlock Holmes and James Mason as Dr. John Watson.

According to Mitch Cullin’s Book A Slight Trick of the Mind Which Came out in 2005, the movie is directed by Bill Condon. Among the highlights of the movie is that it reveals Holmes in his older age with a mind but Still as interested in his job as he was. Holmes, while Colin Starkey plays with Doctor Watson. Among the finest Sherlock Holmes adaptations, the film perfectly captures Homes’ waning years.
